About JUDIT Polgar:
At the age of just 15 years and 4 months she became a grandmaster. She broke the record for the youngest GM which was until then held by the great Bobby Fischer. But that was not all. When Judit was just 12 years old, she managed to break into the top 100 players in the world (open) becoming the youngest ever in the history of chess to have achieved that feat.
She won several world class events and the pinnacle of her career came in 2005 when she competed with seven other men at San Luis for the ultimate World Championship title.
Judit’s highest Elo was 2735 which made her no.8 player in the world at that point. In her flourishing career which lasted until 2015, she beat just about every top player in the world beginning from Kasparov to Karpov to Anand. After her retirement in 2015, she has dedicated her life to promoting chess all across the world.
In a sport that is predominantly mental in nature, there is no reason why women should fare worse than men. Yet a simple look at the rating statistics tells you that when it comes to the absolute elite, women are still lagging behind considerably. In this long history of chess, Judit remains the only women player who has crossed swords with the best men chess players on equal terms. And for this reason we believe that she is one of the greatest living legends on the planet right now!
