Judit Polgar was born July 23, 1976 in Hungary. She defeated an international master when she was 10 years old and an international grandmaster when she was 11. In 1991, she became a grandmaster at the age of 15 years and 4 months. At the time she was the youngest ever grandmaster. She has clearly been the best female chess player ever. Her peak position in the FIDE rating list was number eight.

Opposing Polgar in this game is the present world champion, Viswanathan Anand who was seven years older. Polgar showed she was old enough and strong enough. However, both Polgar and Anand did not excel in the tournament in which this game was played. The event was Dos Hermanas 1999. The contestants and their scores were: Adams 6, Kramnik 5.5, Topalov 5, Illescas Cordoba 5, Gelfand 4.5, Karpov 4.5, Korchnoi 4, Anand 3.5, Svidler 3.5, and Polgar 3.5. Considering the ratings of the players, each one of them achieved a GM norm score. The winner, Adams, had three wins and six draws in nine games. No other player had more than two wins. Anand actually had no wins. Polgar did win two games, but lost four.

The opening became a Najdorf Variation of the Sicilian Defense. The excitement was kicked up a notch with the Hungarian Attack or (Bela) Perneyi Variation with 7.g4. There are numerous game references and much analysis showing that players who step into this line are risk takers.

  5. such an awesome player judith.. i think queens gambit tv show is based on her

  6. Judit Polgar is legit a real life Beth Harmon

  7. Judit is without a doubt the best female chess player of all times. At her her peak she was even in the top 10 pf all chess players, which is amazing. It's also a joy the watch her games, I love her agressive, offensive style! Sacrificing pieces to have better attack lines is something I can't bring myself yo be she does it with such confidence bacause she can pull it off!

  8. Every dog has a day. She was never a WC challenger even. Women are better in chess only in netflix series. So beating Anand once doesnot make her better but makes her better women chess player..

  9. She's afraid to play against BLACK female players though.

  10. If Yi Fan could crush the likes of Giri, Carlsen, Caruana, Nakamura, Aronian, So an the likes then we could have a talk.

  11. 6:05 there are different kinds of discoveries I guess – nasty ones and not nasty ones.

  12. She is not only the best female chess player so far, but she is also an outstanding chess commentator and interviewer… very insightful, charming, considerate. It's always a pleasure to hear her opinion and she's usually right.

  13. Dinesh D'Souza : " No this is impossible! It's a rigged game to support feminists"

  14. Strašno! Anand je gubio kao dete pred navalom belih figura.

  15. The luxuriant subway postprandially park because mexican semiannually guard concerning a numerous dog. little, spotty share

  16. Could we have a series of Judith Polgar vs world champions?

  17. Ella es una gran jugadora y puede ganarle a los mejores algún partido pero si se fijan en las estadísticas excepto con un gran maestro que pierde por un partido de diferencia en todo con todos los demás pierde por amplísimo margen.

  18. you should either record video in another time, when you not making that throat sound every half minute or you should cut it off from video.. good video, but this annoyance kinda ruined it..

  19. judit's attack moves are so beautiful, she was born a true attacker

  20. I love the style of Judit Polgar. Not so defensive like Karpow.

  21. She was probably the strongest IM ever because at 12 she was already ranked 55th in the world.

  22. Is Judit the greatest female player of all time? Um, yes… I mean, if you are going by achievements and results, but then, what else would you go by?

  23. we all see games where people have lost or won.
But rarely any game is uploaded where Judit is crushed.

  24. I hate feminism NOWADAYS, but I think chess is still male dominated, all tournaments are 99% men. Also, why would we add Women Grandmaster? Just grandmaster should be fine for naming female chess masters

  25. Why didn't Anand play Qxf4 with check forcing a trade of queens and being up a piece in the endgame at 5:12? Judit's attack would have been much less effective with the queens going off the board.

  26. I must say she is one of my favorite chess players. Her games always make me happy.

  27. The "Great Lady" of our beloved game. She will ALWAYS have a special place in our hearts. I'm a guy, with sometimes chauvinistic ideas, but when it comes to JP, I simply BOW. What makes her even more respectable (and adorable) to my eyes is that she made a family. NOT easy. See how many top masters haven't managed to do so. That is success and happiness in life in and outside the board.
And, PLEASE, stop refering to some weird tv heroess – Mrs Polgar is the exact opposite: a chess genius CAN be a normal person – you don't have to be a wacko to be good at chess…

  28. Mann, that moves that lead to pinning both of rooks was awesome. 👏

  29. I AM THE RATTIEST F*****G DUDE ALIVE. "Are you not entertained yet?"

  30. What do u think of queens gambit series. How realistic is it

  31. I came to know about her while reading Atomic Habits

  32. Watching this after judit annihilated magnus in 15 moves QUEEN for a reason

  33. Polgar won the majority of her speed games against Fischer, who stayed with the family, or visited, when he was on the lam.
